Hacktivate 5.0.1 on iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4

On February 13, 2012, in Fixes, by Ian Ziyar

If you don’t have a sim card to activate your iPhone then it will be stuck on the activation screen.  iTunes will not let you use your iPhone until its activated so you will need to perform a process called “hacktivation.”  Hacktivation, as its name implies, is spoofing your iPhone into thinking its activated.  This doesn’t mean you will get free cellular service.  Rather, it will just trick iTunes into thinking that there is a sim card in your iPhone and allow it to bypass the setup screen. Follow the steps in this video to get your iPhone up and running in no time.  The video is performed step by step so you do not get lost during the process.

Afterwards, if the above video gets stuck at “only compatible sim cards can be used” follow this video:

hacktivating will update my baseband too?

  2. Lee says:

Thanks, Ian. I used your website because my phone was getting the “no service” signal after I upgraded to 5.0.1. I followed all of the steps in your other video and everything seems to work well. I then needed a non-ATT sim card (which I did not have), and so I tried to follow this video to get around that. When I finished running the custom firmware, iTunes still says that I do not have a “valid SIM card.” What am I doing wrong?

Hi, I need the custom 5.0.1 Firmware for the Iphone 3Gs For by-passing the Activation page, The link takes you to a different page saying that it is no longer available.
My phone wont bypass the activation page. and even when I have my sim card in the phone it won’t activate it’s saying
” Your Iphone could not be activated because the activation server is temporarily unavailable. Try connecting your Iphone to Itunes to activate it, or try again in a couple of mins”
I’ve done it for days an days and it’s not by-passing the activation page, I really need that custom IPSW, custom 5.0.1 Firmware that by-passes the activation page please, Thank You..
